Thomas Frederick Farrier - born Hastings, 29 Jan 1889, son of John Thomas Matthew Farrier and Sarah Ann Ramkin. Died 17 May 1915. His brothers Albert Edward and Walter James also fell.

My name is Mike Farrier, and I am a great-nephew of Thomas Frederic (please note there is no 'k' on the end of his middle name) Farrier. I have carried out huge amounts of research into Thomas, Walter James and Albert Edward's lives, particularly into their military services. A fourth brother, Percy Harold, survived WW1 but lost an arm. I do remember him in my childhood, up to his death in the late 60's, early 70's.
Hi Mike, I've updated the post to correct the spelling of Frederic. It may be that I will come across the photographs of Walter, Albert and Percy as I work through the copies of the paper - I'm up to April 1915 at the moment. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Kind Regards
Good afternoon! I must admit to finding it a bit difficult to know who I'm talking to here, so apologies for that! Thank you for the confirmation of the 'Frederic' for my great uncle Thomas Farrier. You should indeed come across a Hastings newspaper in due course that has a set of about 8 Farrier-related photographs showing the four Farrier brothers (Walter, Thomas, Albert and Percy (who survived) together with two photographs of two Shanks brothers who became stepsons to my great grandmother Sarah Ann Farrier (later Shanks). You will also find a further photograph of their father George Shanks in uniform who survived the war and married by widowed great grand mother, as stated above.
I did go through many of the newspapers that you probably are, so if you did want any further info, I might be able to help. It's certainly some wonderful work you're doing there!

Hello again after around seven years! There appears to be so many Great War websites on the 'net that I totally missed your very kind reply of 2016, so apologies for my extremely late reply. In the intervening years since our last correspondence I haven't turned up any further information on my four Farrier great-uncles, but if I do (I'm always searching!) I'll certainly contact you.
