Winner of the Military Medal, the first decoration given to a man of this squadron… he was a learner at Hastings Post Office having obtained first place in a competitive examination for that post. Later he was appointed sorting clark and telegraphist at Dover, where he was employed until he enlisted in September 1915, in the wireless section of the Royal Flying Corps. He was for sometime with the Blackland’s Boys Brigade. His age is 19 years.
