Other Info: An article published in the Hastings & St Leonards Observer on 31st August 1918 reads; “Killed in action in France August 13th 1918 whilst going to the rescue of a wounded comrade under fire. Son-in-Law of Mr G James, 43 Milward Road, Hastings”

According to CWGC, John died aged 30 and is remembered at Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery, grave reference XVIII.E.5.
