According to CWGC, John died aged 30 and is remembered at Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery, grave reference XVIII.E.5.

Other Info: Was a member of No 9 Section of the local Fire Brigade. Has been awarded the Military Medal. He joined the Colours twelve months ago, leaving for France four months later, since which time he has not been home. The decoration has been gained for gallant conduct in assisting two wounded men and carrying them to a place of safety under heavy hostile shell fire.
