Other Info: Lost his life on HMS Aboukir when it was sunk, along with sister ships HMS Hogue and HMS Cressy, by German submarine U-9 on 22nd September 1914. He was one of 1,459 seamen lost in the incident. He is remembered on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, on panel 4.

An article published in the Hastings & St Leonards Observer on 23rd November 1918 reads; “died from bronchial pnuemonia on October 28th after being in France all through the war”

Address: 57 Plynlimmon Road, Hastings

Other Info: Henry was aboard HMS Laurentic, an armed merchant cruiser, when she struck two mines on 25th January 1917. Aged 27, he was among 354 passengers and crew that went down with the ship. 121 people were saved. Henry is remembered at Portsmouth Naval Memorial, panel 27.

Henry is not named on Hastings War Memorial.
