  • This man was born in Hastings like his two siblings in the 1911 census, when the family was in Bexley, Kent.

    His father was a pastry cook, born in London, while his mother was born in Bodiam. They had married in 1893 at Dallington parish church, he a widower, a confectioner, from Christ Church, St Leonards, aged 39. She was 37, daughter of John Friend, farmer. The farmer died in 1916 in Hastings. His widow died in 1926 in Epsom.
