  pretty sure this is my grandfather, Robert Elphick, born July 29, 1892
  in England. Moved to Canada around 1915?

   Hi Lorraine. There are two men named Robert Elphick who served during the war. Your grandfather served with the Canadian Expeditionary Force, not the Royal Navy. His enlistment forms can be seen here: http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/military-heritage/first-world-war/personnel-records/Pages/item.aspx?IdNumber=378966

   Your grandfather does seem to have lived in Hastings, but I don’t have him on record yet. He may appear on this website as I progress through the paper archives. Kind Regards, Kieron
