Charles William Oakman was born to Ellen Monger , 11th September 1877. He was registered as Charles Monger. The 1881 census shows he was with his grandparents Daniel and Ann Monger in Hampshire along with their last child Shadrack.
When he appeared on the 1891 census he used the surname of Oakman.
Ellen married William Oakman the year after Charles was born.
Ellen was my gt, gt, aunt.
