Other Info: Leonard died from his wounds (GSW to the left upper arm, septicaemia and shock) while in the Auxiliary Military Hospital, Manor Hill, Claughton on the 27th April 1918. His parents were Walter John Fairman and Jane Webb. The family lived at Silvester Road in Bexhill. Two of his brothers were also lost during the Great War, Percy (already in this collection) and Stephen and his three other brothers also served in the war. His only son died as a POW of the Japanese in 1944.

He is remembered at the Birkenhead (Flaybrick Hill) Cemetery, grave reference 16c of E 469 and on the Hastings Town Hall Roll of Honour.
