    Ernest James Tilbury – born 1872 at Fairlight, the son of Charles Francis Tilbury and Jane – probably Delicate. He married Ellen Cullimore in 1899 in Hampshire, and the couple had the following children – Dorothy 1902; Ernest 1903; Hilda Frances 1904, Egypt; Phoebe 1906 Egypt and Robert 1908 Egypt. He served in the Royal Army Medical Corps as Honorary Lieutenant, Quarter Master Sergeant and Honorary Captain. He was reported missing 28/05/1918 – Prisoner of War and repatriated on 8 Dec 1918. he was also active in the Anglo – Boer War as 2nd Class Staff-Sergeant and Sergeant, RAMC.
