Other Info: Awarded the Military Cross. He is fighting in the East, where he has done splendid service. At the Battle of Gaza he was wounded and was given the M.C. on the battlefield.

John’s medal citation reads: “For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an action. He showed the greatest coolness and ability when his platoon was enfiladed during the attack, and saved many lives by his judgement and skill in a difficult situation”
