Other Info: An article published in the Hastings & St Leonards Observer on 17th August 1918 reads; “Sergeant Gordon Preedy. Killed in action in France on the night of June 30th 1918. He enlisted in 1914 at the aged of 15 1/2 years.”

According to CWGC, Gordon is remembered at the Pozieres Memorial, panel 58 & 59.

According to CWGC, George died aged 19 on 23rd March 1918. He is remembered at the Pozieres Memorial on Panel 14 and 15.

Other Info: At the Front. According to CWGC, Lionel died aged 26 on 21st March 1918. He is remembered at the Pozieres Memorial, Panel 94.

Lionel Britt was killed in action on his 26th birthday (21 Mar 1918). He first saw battle on 15 Sep 1916 near Flers en Picardie when his tank Dinkum was knocked out during the British attack known as the Battle of Flers Courcelette; this was the first time tanks were used in conflict.. His family believe he was killed close by in 1918 but the rest of his unit was fighting to hold back the German advance south of Tincourt (Thanks to Stephen via the comments for this information).

Oldest son of the late Colour Sergeant Instructor Orchard. His step-mother lives at 49 Castle Hill Road, Hastings.’ According to CWGC, Albert is remembered on the Pozieres Memorial on Panel 48.

Albert is not named on Hastings War Memorial.
