Other Info: According to CWGC, Henry died on 11th March when HMS Bayano was torpedoed by German submarine U27. He was among 195 officers and sailors lost. Edward is remembered at Portsmouth Naval Memorial on panel 10.

*The paper states ‘Harry Martin’ which differs to the name listed on CWGC.

Other Info: According to CWGC, Edward died aged 22 on 11th March when HMS Bayano was torpedoed by German submarine U27. He was among 195 officers and sailors lost. Edward is remembered at Portsmouth Naval Memorial on panel 20.

Address: Bourne Street, Hastings

Other Info: At Walmer. Was one of the survivors aboard HMS Bayano which was torpedoed on March 11th 1915. He was saved (after clinging to rafts for five hours with other members of the crew) by Captain J Foster and the crew of Balmarino. Mr Rolfe was taken to County Hospital, Ayr with three others. He was most kindly treated. Then he was taken to Portsmouth and from there sent home for 14 days leave. He has now returned to Portsmouth.
