Other Info: The text reads: “…whose portrait appeared in ‘The Wine Trade Review’ of the 15th inst., accompanied by a short notice in which it was stated that he has been for some years with Ellis, Son and Vidler of St Leonards on Sea and Hastings and received a commission in the Royal Field Artillery in December last. He is a member of an old and well known Rye family. One of his brothers has held a commission for some time in the Royal West Surrey’s and another is a present training in Canada. A third brother was killed in the Dardanelles. Additional name information from the Lives of the First World War Website.
