Other Info: Sent to the paper by ‘A Hastings Lad’, who said that the photographs were in his chum’s pocket when the bullet pierced his tunic, struck the cards, and finally rested inside a box containing cigarettes. “it was”, said the writer of the letter, “a very close shave for him. I am pleased to say he is one of the original Expeditionary Force which left England on August 12th 1914 and he is still going strong. He is a Hastings man and a constant reader of the ‘Observer’ and ‘Pictorial Advertiser’.”
