Other Info: The text reads: “In the ‘Observer’ next Saturday will appear an interesting narrative which Driver C W Pound … has sent to his old school fellow W T Divall, a Hastings schoolmaster, giving some of his experiences at the Front. Driver Pound was some years ago employed at the ‘Hastings Chronicle” office in Havelock Road. The above photograph shows him with his wife and eight children. The ninth, his eldest daughter, is not shown. In his letter he mentioned that his youngest child, born during the battle of Ypres, has been named Robert Ypres Pound”. Other Info: Text reads “Motor Driver James Cleverdon, standing by his car in France. He is an old solider. Thirty three years ago he was fighting for his country, both on land and sea. He was present in the flagship at the Bombardment of Alexandria on July 11th 1882; he land in the desert with the Naval Machine Gun Battery, and was present at the Battle of Tell-El-Kabir on 13th September 1882. He is now serving with the ASC. When he rejoined he was acting as caretaker at the Observer office, Hastings. Additional name information from the Lives of the First World War website.
