Other Info: Lost his life on HMS Aboukir when it was sunk, along with sister ships HMS Hogue and HMS Cressy, by German submarine U-9 on 22nd September 1914. He was one of 1,459 seamen lost in the incident. William is remembered on the Chatham Naval Memorial, on panel 4.

Other Info: Lost his life on HMS Hampshire which was sunk by a mine on 5th June 1916. Field Marshall Lord Kitchener and his staff on board and among 737 lost. According to CWGC. Lester is remembered at Lyness Royal Naval Cemetery, grave reference F.69. He is recorded as ‘Lister’ Stone Bennett.
