Other Info: “Mrs Gorlich and her daughter left Vancouver, B.C, some six years ago to enable Miss Gorlich to study singing in France, and she has been so successful that last year (1916) she too the first prize at the Paris Conservatoire. When the War broke out both she and her mother took up war work, and Miss Gorlich has since sung at over 300 concerts for soldiers. Once, in January of the present year, she sang to 45,000 Canadians at Etaples. Gunner F R Gorlich came over with the second lot of Canadians and is now convalescent in Hastings. He met his sister at Etaples in April quite accidentally after a parting of about five years”.

Other Info: For thirty years sold baked potatoes from a can in Queen’s Road. Being too old for military service he has gone into munitions (night work) and fills up his spare time a special constable. This is at Birmingham, where he works five nights each week on munitions, and does police duty (unpaid) on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
