A quiet but pretty wedding took place at Holy Trinity Church on 19th December 1917, the Rev Canon T W Cook officiating. The bridegroom was Walter Henry Morris, whose father is licensee of the Royal Sussex Arms, Old London Road, and the bride, Violet, the only daughter of Mr & Mrs Paine. Town Hall, Hastings. As her father was serving in France, the bride was given away by her mother. The bride was attended by her cousin, Alice Morris, as bridesmaid and Master Leslie Paine as page. The were a very large number of presents, many of them considerable value, as both the happy pair as well known and much esteemed. The bridegroom is secretary to the Earl of Ashburnham and Sir Anchitel Ashburnham-Clement.
