Other Info: The text reads: “By the death of 2nd Lieutenant G R Jenner, East Yorkshire Regiment, Mrs Jenner of Belle Vue, Pett, has lost her only son, who was only 18 years old. He was educated at Ardingly College where he obtained a certificate of the Royal Humane Life Saving Society, also bronze medal and school silver and bronze medals and cup for swimming.

He became Company Quarter Master Sergeant of the Officer’s Training Corps. He passed the Senior Oxford examination in 1914, and was afterwards promoted to Head Prefect and Captain of the school, leaving in 1915. He received a commission in the East Yorkshire Regiment, going to Bedford to receive his first training, after which he qualified as a Grenadier Instructor, and was so engaged in training troops in this work. He went to France last July. Mrs Jenner received a telegram from the War Office saying he was dangerously ill from wounds of which he died the same night on 2nd August 1916, and is buried in a Cemetery reserved for British soldiers behind the firing line.

According to CWGC, George is remembered at Avesnes-le-Comte Communal Cemetery Extension, grave reference IV.A.23.
