William Brasier appears to be the 25-year-old fisherman living with his parents and a brother at a 4-roomed house, 3 Thomas Cottage, Bourne Walk, Hastings, in the 1911 census. His father Charles was a corporation labourer while his brother was a fishmonger. The entire household was born in Hastings.
William married, late 1914, Hastings district, Daisy Sarah Mildred, daughter of James Robert Cornwall, labourer, and his wife Ellen. In the 1911 census her family had been at 35 Newgate Road, St Leonards on Sea (adjacent to Hastings), a 4-roomed house; a 1 room flat also at no. 35 housed a gas works pensioner (a widower) and his plaster's labourer son.
The four rooms accommodated the parents and seven children. All were born in St Leonards except for the father who was born at Warbleton, also in Sussex. Father was listed as a general labourer in the building trade; Daisy was a "general servant", aged 21 (which probably meant she worked as a servant, but lived out); her 17-year-old brother Frank was an errand boy to a fishmonger.
A daughter, Daisy Georgina Ellen, was baptised at St Matthew's on the 18 March 1917. The father's occupation was "soldier", and the address was 12 Salisbury Road, which is round the corner from her parents' house.
His widow Daisy married, 28 April 1923, St Matthew's, St Leonards on Sea, William Arthur Jinks, postman, of 53 Bohemia Road. Her address was 35 Newgate Road. Bohemia Road is also round the corner from Newgate Road. Jinks had been a sailor in the Royal Navy between 1900 and 1914, and from 1916-18 was in first the Machine Gun Corps and then the Tank Regiment. He had been born in Hastings. They had a daughter, Betty, in 1924.
Daisy died on the 21 August 1947 at the Buchanan Hospital, St Leonards, but was of 12 North Road, St Leonards. her husband was given in the probate entry as a journeyman blindmaker. They were at that address in 1939, when he was still a postman. He died in Hastings in 1964.
