Other Info: The text reads: “Florence Foord, who has the distinction of becoming the first girl messenger in Hastings and St Leonards under the organisation of Mrs Sieveking, of Exmouth Place. She has for some time been a local Girl Guide. She is engaged by Messers. King Bros, Queen’s Road, and her duties consist of delivering letters, giving messages, and taking out morning papers to their purchasers. The young lady wears a broad-brimmed sailor hat, with a badge ‘Hastings Messenger Girls’ in the front and also has a similar badge on the left arm. She likes the work.
