Frederick James Cruttenden was born in 1897, the son of Alfred Cruttenden and Harriet Hobden. In 1911 he and his family were living at 11 Aldborough Road St Leonards on Sea. He was listed as “Fred” aged 14, a Greengrocer. Also at the same address were brother “Bert” and sister Alice. In 1901 the family included another brother “Willie”. In 1921 he married Harriet Hobden in Hoo, Kent. He died in 1927.
