He is remembered at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cwgc.org\/find\/find-cemeteries-and-memorials\/80800\/thiepval-memorial\">Thiepval Memorial<\/a>, Pier and Face 5d. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/friendsofhastingscemetery.org.uk\/butlerw.html\">Friends of Hastings Cemetery<\/a> website provides this additional information from the Hastings Observer; &#8220;<span class=\"C-7\">In our last issue we referred briefly to the death of\u00a0<span class=\"C-8\">Sergeant W. \u00a0Butler<\/span>, \u00a0second son of Mr J. J.
