He was buried in a churchyard near by the following day, the following day by the Chaplain. All the officers of the Company and a number of the men attended, including his brother Fred and his nephew. To do what he considered his duty he gave up his business of builder and decorator at 30 St Georges Road, Hastings, and enlisted about 18 months ago. His wife is left with four little boys, the youngest being only a few months old.
