Other Info: Was a member of No 9 Section of the local Fire Brigade. Has been awarded the Military Medal. He joined the Colours twelve months ago, leaving for France four months later, since which time he has not been home. The decoration has been gained for gallant conduct in assisting two wounded men and carrying them to a place of safety under heavy hostile shell fire.

Other Info: Has just been awarded the Croix de Guerre (Belgian) for rendering first aid under heavy shell fire. It will be remembered that he already holds the certificate of the Royal Humane Society for life saving at sea, and the silver medal for protecting life from fire. To be the recipient of three awards for saving life in three separate elements is a unique record, and we congratulate the gallant Gunner, who, until a few months ago, was engaged at the Town Hall, Hastings
